Self-Leadership as Liberation: A Womanist and Disability Justice Approach to Thriving in Academia

This session explores self-leadership through a disability justice and womanist lens, equipping early and mid-career faculty of color with strategies for resilience, advocacy, and well-being. Addressing systemic challenges in academia, we offer actionable insights on navigating tenure, leadership, and mental wellness, fostering sustainability, collective care, and professional growth.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Upon completion participants will be able to understand the tenants of self-Leadership and mental Wellness.
  2. Upon completion participants will be able to identify and implement self-leadership techniques that integrate a womanist and empowerment framework.
  3. Upon completion participants will be able to develop practical strategies for recognizing, exploring, actualizing, and leading oneself toward well-being.
