Christa C. Gilliam, PhD, MSW, is an Associate Professor at the Morgan State University School of Social Work in Baltimore, MD. An accomplished social work educator. Dr. Gilliam is dedicated to social justice, leadership development, and advancing the profession through scholarship and practice. Her current research explores social work workforce development, leadership, professional mentoring, and social work policy and practice in urban communities. Through her scholarship, she is committed to educating students, scholars, and practitioners about the opportunities and challenges facing the field. In 2021, Dr. Gilliam coauthored Mentoring Women for Leadership: Empowering the Next Generation, available through NASW Press. Beyond academia, she finds creative expression and self-care through sewing and quilting, using these artistic practices as a form of community storytelling.
