Enhancing Research Steering Committees: Inclusive Strategies for Diversity, Equity, and Disability Justice

This proposal explores best practices for establishing and mobilizing steering committees in community-engaged research (CEnR) to emphasize diversity, equity, inclusion, and disability justice. Findings from a scoping review will identify effective strategies for enhancing steering committee decision-making, improving health equity, and fostering disability justice through inclusive research practices.

Learning Objectives:

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. Upon completion, the participant will be able to identify key strategies for integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, and disability justice in community-engaged research steering committees.
  2. Upon completion, participants will be able to describe best practices for ensuring accessibility and disability-inclusive participation in research decision-making.
  3. Upon completion, the participant will be able to apply appropriate methodologies to advance health equity in community-academic partnerships.
