Bailey Nichols, PhD is scheduled to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work in August 2025. She graduated from Ouachita Baptist University (Arkadelphia, AR) in 2013 with a B.S. in Biology and minors in Dietetics and Psychology. Upon graduating, she spent four years in Wilmington, Delaware serving in various roles within the non-profit, UrbanPromise. UrbanPromise provides after school programs, summer camps, a job training program for teenagers and an affordable private elementary school and high school. Her experience at UrbanPromise informed her decisions to pursue both her MSW and PhD at the University of Pittsburgh.
In her doctoral education, Bailey has been able to serve on multiple research teams. Bailey is currently an evaluator on a pilot project increasing access to mental healthcare within African American faith communities. Through her scholarship, Bailey intends to advance social work education, increase social workers cultural competency, and strengthen both the accessibility and delivery of holistic integrated healthcare. She is currently working as a practitioner scholar in a Pittsburgh nonprofit school.
