Religious harm and/or trauma can hinder practitioner ability to effectively address the needs of religious and/or spiritual clients. This presentation describes ways practicum students experienced religious harm/trauma, how it influenced their experience of clients, how supervisors responded to these issues, and implications for practicum students and supervisors.

Participants will be able to identify key features of religious trauma and list ways that religious harm and/or trauma impacted the interviewees.
Participants will be able to describe how the religious harm and/or trauma of social work students in this sample influenced their experience of their clients religious and/or spiritual positionalities.
Participants will be able to identify specific practicum instructor behaviors that helped students address religious harm and/or trauma to support their practice with religious and/or spiritual clients.
