Assistant Professor / Former USARMY Major
Siena University
Robin MacHattie, MSW, LCSW is an Assistant Professor with Siena University. Robin has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2014, utilizing her skills with adolescents, military populations, and survivors of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Robin was a commissioned officer in the New York Army National Guard from 2015-2024, serving as a Behavioral Health Officer and Sexual Assault Response Coordinator/Victim Advocate and reaching the rank of Major. The military population will always be near and dear to her heart, as she reflects that it was an honor to serve among some of the most selfless, brave, inspiring and honest people she has ever met. Robin will forever advocate for our service members, veterans, and military families. One of the greatest tools for doing this is by bringing education and awareness around military culture and unique hurdles faced by our service members and their families into the classroom and her professional education endeavors.
Robin has worked in higher education since 2016, first as an administrator and now as a faculty member. She loves the college population and enjoys finding ways to motivate students through active, engaged, and partnered learning experiences that approach concepts and theories in an accessible and interesting way. In everything she does, Robin is authentic and transparent, bringing vulnerability, empathy, and humanness to her work and in turn encouraging her students and clients to embody these characteristics themselves.
