Julie Berrett-Abebe, PhD, LICSW has spent her career working on teams at the intersection of health and mental health practice, research, and education. As an oncology social worker, she witnessed the ways in which personalized, precision medicine offered hope for effective treatment of physical illness but did not address the often debilitating financial, psychological, and social issues facing individuals with cancer. She therefore strives to promote integration of behavioral health and physical health care through interprofessional education and research on collaborate care, social drivers of health, and well-being in cancer survivorship. Julie is currently an Associate Professor of Social Work at Fairfield University, where she also directs the FCHC Scholars program, an interdisciplinary training program funded by a BHWET HRSA grant.
