Sandhya Limaye, is a Professor and Chairperson of the Centre for Disability Studies and Action at the School of Social Work, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. As an Erasmus Mundus , Nehru-Fullbright and Rockefeller Fellow, she presented the alternate report on women with disability in India at the UN, Geneva and is involved in C-20 activities for Diversity, Equity an Disability Groups in India. She has several publications in journals and books in various areas of disability such as inclusive education, idenitity, unmarried, parenting, sexuality etc. She has recently published her book "Disability and Diversity in India: Theory, Practice and Lived Experience" with co-authors Dr. Christopher Johnstone and Dr. Misa Kayama. Her areas of interest are Deaf Studies, Identity and Disability, and Children having parents with disability. She and Dr. Madhura Nagchoudhuri established their field action project iCBR (Inclusive Community Based Rehabilitation) in slum areas of Mumbai for overall rehabilitation programs for people with disabilities from low socio-economic backgrounds. She also guides MA and PhD students for research and supervises students for field practicum. She is also involved in conducting conferences such as Inclusive Education, Identity and Disability.
