The capacity-building intervention program for community workers in a metropolitan slum area equips them with the strategies and skills to change their mindset, increase their knowledge about disability, and their roles in helping people with disabilities, and be active partners in creating an inclusive environment for people with disabilities.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
Enhance social work educators’ understanding of the Inclusive Community-Based Rehabilitation (iCBR) model and its impact on empowering people with disabilities (PWDs) in marginalized urban settings.
Identify effective training methodologies for equipping community workers, educators, and stakeholders with the knowledge and skills necessary to support PWDs. They will explore ways to integrate disability awareness, stakeholder collaboration, and policy advocacy into social work education.
Apply Lessons from grassroots disability advocacy to global social work practice
Social work educators will learn to develop, adapt, and implement low-resource, high-impact models to promote disability inclusion.
