Stacey De Fries is an Associate Teaching Professor and Field Faculty at the University of Washington School of Social Work, where she has served in various instructional and leadership roles for over 15 years. With more than 25 years of experience in clinical social work, public health, and higher education, she is recognized for her contributions to field education, research instruction, and clinical supervision.
Stacey teaches across the MSW and BASW programs, focusing on advanced social welfare research, evaluation, and practicum education. She has developed and led numerous trainings for field instructors and serves as an approved clinical supervisor. Her mentorship spans hundreds of students through field liaison roles, independent studies, and thesis committees.
Her scholarship explores innovations in field education, virtual practicum models, and the integration of environmental justice and social equity into social work curricula. She has co-authored peer-reviewed articles and presented nationally on topics such as clinical development, continuing education, and systems of care for children with special health needs.
Stacey is co-chair of the Northwest Consortium for Field Education and her work reflects a deep commitment to inclusive, community-engaged, and evidence-informed social work education.
