Cliff Bersamira, PhD, AM is an Associate Professor at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health. He received his PhD and AM (MSW equivalent) from the University of Chicago and BA from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Bersamira’s research relates to substance use and behavioral health policies, service delivery, and workforce development; Filipino and Asian American health and wellbeing; and lived experiences, recovery support, and community voices. Dr. Bersamira currently serves as Principal Investigator for Hawai’i SUPD (Substance Use Professional Development), a statewide initiative for substance use workforce development and training. Previously, he worked in community-based addiction research in San Francisco, served in the Peace Corps in West Africa, and provided technical assistance to state government agencies in Washington, DC at the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Agency Directors.
