This presentation will discuss epistemological erasure; present a framework for understanding Pilipinx American (PA) cultural survivance, sovereign intellectualism, and ancestral knowledges; and provide practical applications for social work educators to promote disability justice, intersectionality, and cultural relevancy for practice contexts. Participants will identify strategies for interrupting legacies of colonial harm.

Participants will describe coloniality/modernity’s discursive production of disabled identities and colonization’s disablement of bodies and minds.
Participants will critically engage with their inherited knowledges in relation to the diverse communities they are part of, assessing its impact, evolution, and intersections with social work and disability justice.
Participants will identify ways social work education and practice can center disability justice, intersectionality, and cultural relevancy.
