Lex Owen is an Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada Reno. She has experience working with individuals with disabilities and their families, older adults and previously incarcerated individuals. She has also worked at the intersection of public health and social work focusing on improving disability inclusion in locality emergency preparedness planning. She is passionate about developing social work students into curious problem-solvers, and seeks to transmit social work values and ethics through her teaching and research. Her areas of interest include families of children and youth with special health care needs, disability and bioethics, social work education, action research and qualitative methodologies, and human service organizational research.
