Erick Scherf, MSW, is a PhD Candidate in Social Work at the University of Alabama School of Social Work. He has recently been selected as CSWE's Doctoral Student Policy Fellow (2025-26), and his research focuses on the social and structural factors that shape migrant health. More specifically, his doctoral dissertation examines the impact of policy environments, community advocacy, and work-related stressors on the biopsychosocial well-being of Latinx migrant workers in the U.S. He is also affiliated with the Forced Migration Initiative at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis. Erick's work has been published in several leading academic journals, and he has presented his research findings at several national and international conferences.
