Navigating ADEI in Social Work Programs Amid Challenging Socio-Political Times: 2023-2024 Survey Results

This paper presents 2023-2024 survey results from 94 accredited social work programs on ADEI initiatives amid heightened sociopolitical tensions. Data confirm scholarship on policy constraints, legislative restrictions, and resource limitations. Findings highlight strategies for advancing ADEI despite barriers, offering insights as social work programs adapt to evolving political challenges.

At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
  1. 1. Understand Barriers to ADEI Implementation in CSWE-Accredited BSW & MSW Programs Examine how the absence of formal guidelines, institutional resistance, legislative restrictions, and faculty/student pushback impacted ADEI integration during the 2023-2024 academic year.
  2. 2. Assess Gaps in Intersectional Inclusion Identify underrepresented groups in ADEI efforts, such as aging populations, religious minorities, neurodivergent individuals, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
  3. 3. Review Strategies for ADEI Inclusion in Social Work Education Analyze institutional policies, faculty training, and advocacy efforts to create a more unified and sustainable ADEI framework.
