Mental health disproportionately affects Black college students, hindering their academic success and raising concerns in scholarship and practice This study uses the Social Determinants of Mental Health framework to identify key social factors affecting Black college students’ mental health.

Understand how intersectional identities (gender identity, sexual orientation, race) influence mental health outcomes among Black college students.
Identify key social determinants, including financial stress and racial discrimination, that predict mental health problems in Black college student populations.
Examine how sense of belonging functions as a protective factor against mental health problems among Black college students.
