This study explores how Black clergy members respond to disclosures of intimate partner violence (IPV) within their congregations. Using vignettes and semi-structured interviews, the research examines clergy's verbal responses, support approaches, and perceptions of IPV severity. Insights aim to inform culturally responsive interventions and support systems for IPV survivors.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this session, attendees should be able to:
1. Understand the role of Black clergy in responding to IPV disclosures.
2. Understand the unique support strategies implored by clergy in addressing IPV within the community.
3. Discuss the implications of the study’s findings for culturally responsive interventions and training programs for faith-based communities addressing IPV.
