Jennifer Elliott, MSW, is a Schomburg Fellow and Doctoral student at the University at Buffalo’s School of Social Work, where she also earned her Master in Social Work. She is also an adjunct professor at Buffalo State University. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence (IPV) in the Black community, culturally responsive services for Black women survivors, and trauma-informed interventions, with an emphasis on informing policy and social work education. Jennifer co-founded the University at Buffalo’s Association of Black Social Workers Chapter, serving as Vice President (2021-2022) and President (2022-2023), where she worked to enhance student engagement and advocacy for racial justice in social work practice. She previously served as Program Director for the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) at Trocaire College, managing a grant addressing domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sexual assault prevention. Additionally, she has experience as a domestic violence advocate, providing direct support to survivors. Jennifer is also a cofounder of BBRIDGE, an initiative aimed at bridging gaps in research, community, and practice, using BBRIDGE to disseminate information to the public while training service providers in cultural responsiveness. She aspires to advance research and education that strengthens culturally responsive interventions and policy development within social work.
