This poster explores utilizing trauma-informed care to improve family engagement and care in pediatric long-term care hospital settings. It offers a model for implementation that assumes limited resources and leadership/staff interest in partnership to improve collaboration, increase equity, and advance practice.

Participants will recognize how trauma-informed care aligns with recent directions and best practices for family engagement in pediatric health care settings, supporting equity for disabled and chronically ill children and their families, and recognize child and family experiences of trauma in these settings.
Participants will understand key implementation strategies that can be adapted to suit their organizations and provide more collaborative environments to support outcomes for disabled and chronically ill children and their families. They will also know where free resources are available to support implementation.
Participants will understand the importance of partnering with stakeholders within the organization to simultaneously model the tenets of trauma-informed care and tailor the implementation design to suit organizational needs and available resources. They will also understand factors to reduce confirmation bias in implementation.
