This presentation will discuss a research study exploring social stigma towards mothers raising autistic children in Bangladesh, which found that sources of stigma ranged from individual interactions to structural influences. These findings can be incorporated into social work education to introduce students to cultural variations of care-giving and support.

1. Participants will understand the care-giving burden and societal pressure encountered by mothers of autistic children.
2. Participants will understand the Bangladeshi cultural pattern of stigmatized attitudes towards autism and disabilities.
