This presentation provides an overview of a training program focused on increasing the number of Black school social workers prepared to work with Black K-12 students. The training program was evaluated to assess its impact on student confidence, knowledge acquisition, and preparedness for school-based social work practice.

Participants will be able to describe the racial gap in the school social work workforce and its impact on Black students’ mental health.
Participants will be able to evaluate the significance and feasibility of integrating culturally responsive, anti-racists frameworks into MSW training to better prepare school social workers for practice with Black students.
Participants will be able to discuss strategies for replicating training programs that enhance cultural responsiveness for future school social workers.
