As an Assistant Professor at the Carver School of Social Work at Campbellsville University, Kelly Rae Maynard is passionate about teaching undergraduate students. She has extensive expertise in social policy, community and organizational development, and social justice. Ms. Maynard holds a Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kentucky.
With 25 years of experience as a macro social worker, Kelly Rae Joplin spent 16 years in leadership and administration within nonprofit organizations such as United Way 211, Children's Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass, and Hospice of Lake Cumberland. Ms. Joplin's professional journey has been dedicated to serving youth and families across Central and Eastern Kentucky, with a strong focus on program development, collaboration with nonprofit boards, and legislative advocacy.
Most recently, Ms. Joplin was awarded a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Appalachian College Association for a scholarship on teaching social justice in a diverse classroom environment by creating safety and belonging. She is also a recipient of the University of Kentucky, College of Social Work, Beaven Eidetik Doctoral Research Fellowship, Spring 2024, for her research on Central Appalachian students and higher education. Her academic interests include intergenerational poverty in Appalachia, epigenetics, nonprofit leadership, and community and legislative change.
