Tayon R. Swafford is a Licensed Social Worker and an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is also the Mental Health Director at Heart and Soul Free Clinic in Westfield, Indiana. As a Life Course Social Worker, Tayon’s research interests include gender, racial, and sexual identity development over the life course, religion, spirituality, and trauma. His focal research population is Black gay fathers. Tayon completed a Master of Social Work degree, Graduate Certificate in e-Social Work Practice, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree at the Indiana University School of Social Work. Prior to matriculating to the Indiana University School of Social Work, Tayon worked for the Indiana Department of Child Services. Tayon also holds a Master of Theological Studies degree from Vanderbilt University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Albright College.
