Field Education Coordinator & Instructor

Austin McCoy, LCSW, is the Field Education Coordinator and Instructor at the Anne and Henry Zarrow School of Social Work at the University of Oklahoma’s Tulsa campus. In this role, he oversees field education for both undergraduate and graduate social work students, ensuring they gain the hands-on experience necessary for impactful careers in the field. He also serves as Chair of the Website and Social Media Committee, working to enhance the school’s digital presence and outreach, as well as the Co-Chair for the Tulsa Social Work Student Association.
With over a decade of experience in school-based social work and mental health, Austin has dedicated his career to serving children, families, and communities. His professional background includes working as a Therapist with Dayspring Community Services and as a Social Services Specialist with Tulsa Public Schools, where he provided critical mental health and behavioral support to students. Additionally, he currently serves as the Field Instructor for the OU PRIME program, a specialized initiative that places social work students in rural and underserved schools across Oklahoma to address educational and mental health disparities.
Since joining the University of Oklahoma in January 2021, Austin has taken on key leadership roles, becoming the Tulsa Field Education Coordinator in July 2021. In addition to his university responsibilities, he has been an Interagency Clinical Supervisor with Family and Children’s Services since June 2022 and achieved Board Approved Clinical Supervisor status in July 2024, further demonstrating his commitment to mentoring the next generation of social workers.
