Dr. Alexander- Richardson has taught a variety of master and undergraduate level social work courses related to her specializations in mental health, trauma, grief and loss, and the child and adolescent population. Her research interests include school-shooting trauma and focuses on broader interests like youth, family, and public-school mental health services. She has published articles in peer reviewed journals and textbooks related to her research in managing trauma in students and faculty in public schools in the U.S. after school shootings and works toward developing connections with key stakeholders in the community to develop and pilot programs that could help to alleviate the trauma impact of school shootings and improve the trauma response from public schools. Additionally, she has research interests in the role of faith and spiritual practices in healing from trauma. She has presented her research nationally and internationally at professional and research conferences.
