Acanthus N. Fairley, LCSW, SIFI is PhD student in Social Welfare at CUNY'S Graduate Center. She received a dual B.A. in Psychology and Gender Studies from Pace University and her MSW in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work in 2013. Acanthus runs a practice, Blackwell Counseling Firm, PLLC, is an adjunct lecturer at CUNY's York College, the Workforce Retention Coordinator at Mount SInai Hospital, and is a practicum instructor for second year MSW students. Acanthus is passionate about deepening intersectional pedagogy between race, trauma, and healthcare through the life course, with a focus on older adults. Her current research interests are examining the relationship between racial trauma and workplace violence among older adult racially minoritized healthcare workers.
