Dr. Jacob Goffnett advances health equity for queer and trans folks through collaborative, community-engaged research. Their work investigates how social environments shape the ways LGBTQ+ individuals navigate their identities and maintain wellbeing, with particular focus on appraisal and coping strategies. Through innovative visual methodologies, including PhotoVoice and photo elicitation, Dr. Goffnett partners with community members to document lived experiences and create meaningful change. Dr. Goffnett’s research is currently funded by the American Psychological Foundation and Virginia Commonwealth University.
