Dr. Christopher Robinson, LMSW, serves as an Associate Professor of Social Work at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Previously, he held the position of Director of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) Program and Assistant Professor of Social Work at the Greater Allegheny Campus of Pennsylvania State University, located near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Before joining Penn State, Robinson spent eleven years at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), where he led the Associate of Science program in Social Work at the CCAC South Campus. Additionally, he served as the Manager of Cultural Competency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Center for Engagement and Inclusion. In this role, he collaborated on developing strategic diversity initiatives aimed at promoting culturally competent patient care, eliminating health disparities, enhancing language access services, and reducing community trauma.
Originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan, Dr. Robinson's academic achievements are as impressive as his professional ones. He holds a BSW from the historically Black Jackson State University, an MSW from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Doctorate in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His academic excellence has been recognized through several awards, including the University of Pittsburgh Distinguished Alumni Award for Social Work Education in 2021 and the Pittsburgh Magazine 40 Under 40 Award in 2023.
