Carrie Means, LISW, worked for 20 years in medical social work and is now a 4th year PhD Candidate at the University of Iowa. Her areas of research interests include professional impairment, moral injury, mental health and well-being. Her comprehensive exam examined the factors influencing vulnerabilities to professional impairment among counseling professionals. Her dissertation proposal examines social workers who have experienced professional impairment, focusing on the resources they employed and the barriers to addressing this issue.
