Dr. Amy E. Cox is an Assistant Professor at Troy University, where she also serves as the Director of the Master of Social Work program. She holds a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, a Master’s in Social Work, and a PhD in Sport Management. Dr. Cox is passionate about the mental well-being of students, drawing from her experience working in both secondary education and higher education settings. As a military spouse, she has developed a particular research interest in the unique challenges faced by military families, leading her to present, publish, and develop courses aimed at raising awareness of these issues. Additionally, Dr. Cox focuses on promoting mental health literacy within sport management curricula, with an emphasis on athletes, coaches, and staff. Through collaborations with various departments and institutional leaders, she has actively advanced social justice, advocacy, and positive mental health, particularly among students and student-athletes, influencing her work as a presenter, author, and guest lecturer.
