Dr. Clifton currently serves as the MSW Program Director at Mount St. Joseph University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She has also held leadership roles as BSW Program Director and Department Chair at two other institutions. Dr. Clifton began her career as a hospice social worker, providing bereavement support and coordinating volunteer services. She later served as Counselor and Director for two Upward Bound grants, where she successfully secured and administered federal funding—an experience that deepened her commitment to policy and administrative practice. During this time, she earned her law degree and subsequently practiced workers’ compensation defense law before serving as Director of Community Services for a Community Action Organization.
Dr. Clifton currently serves on the CSWE Board of Accreditation and previously served as a Commissioner on CSWE’s Commission on Accreditation (2014–2020), where she was also appointed to the Executive Committee. In addition, she contributed to CSWE’s Macro Practice and Environmental Justice Task Forces, helping develop national curricular guides in these areas.
