Sara Terrana, MA, MSW, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Adelphi University School of Social Work where she specializes in nonprofit human-service organizations (HSOs) and social work pedagogy. Her research focuses on two key areas: (1) the role of HSOs in neighborhoods of concentrated disadvantage, particularly in communities of color impacted by the neoliberal welfare state and macro-level social policy shifts, and (2) innovative approaches to teaching and evaluating social work students’ engagement with social action and social justice initiatives. Her scholarship has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and she has presented her research at national and international conferences.
