Alexandra Chinn is a first-generation college graduate from Hagerstown, Maryland. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Towson University and a master’s degree in social work from Salisbury University. After completing her studies, Alexandra returned to Hagerstown, where she worked in child abuse and neglect, gaining extensive experience in investigations, foster care management, and forensic interviewing. Her work inspired a vision of a world where parents heal from their own traumas instead of passing them onto their children through how they parent, thus breaking the intergenerational cycle of trauma via parenting behaviors. In August 2023, Alexandra began her PhD in social work at Louisiana State University, where her research focuses on parenting, intergenerational trauma, child welfare, and child development. With a deep commitment to creating meaningful change, Alexandra seeks to contribute to the field through innovative research and interventions that empower families to thrive.
