Adjunct Professor
Tulane University
Dr. Brooks Zitzmann’s abiding commitment to ecosocial work is founded on her experience growing up among the marsh lands of southern Louisiana, lovingly playing in and with the abundant ecosystem. The devastation of Hurricane Katrina solidified her understanding of the intertwined nature of ecosocial problems and brought her into social work. She now draws from degrees in biology, religious studies, science and religion, and social work as well as personal commitments to the common good and the “great work” (T. Berry) in her vocation as an educator and therapist. She currently teaches in Tulane University’s School of Social Work, student-voted adjunct educator of the year in 2024. She holds a License of Clinical Social Work and operates a private practice helping adults heal from relational traumas and grow in holistic wellbeing. In all she does, she strives to illuminate the deep interconnections of all life and promote integrated biopsychosocial-spiritual flourishing.
