Shola Thompson founded the Community Revitalization Partnership (CRP) in 2014, a
501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on improving academic performance, attendance, and
social-emotional health for students in New York City. She holds a Master’s degree in
Experimental Psychology from St. John’s University (2002) and a Master’s degree in
Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University (2006), earning her License in
Mental Health Counseling in 2008. As a lecturer at the City University of New York
(2015-present) and St. John’s University (2007-2019), Shola has taught courses such
as "Human Behavior" and "Scientific Inquiry," designing curricula and supporting
students through personalized instruction. Currently, as a PhD student in Social
Welfare, her research explores how staff utilization of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
impacts belonging and academic outcomes for students with non-visible behavioral
health disabilities in New York City public schools. Her work aims to foster inclusion and
well-being, enhancing achievement for students with invisible disabilities.
