Shermira R. Busby is an educator, PhD social welfare scholar, and workforce development leader who has dedicated her career to creating pathways for growth and self-sufficiency in under-resourced communities across New York City. Originally from the United States Virgin Islands, Shermira has cultivated a career that spans academia, community development, and policy advocacy. Her journey is marked by resilience and an unwavering commitment to social justice. She is a third-year PhD student in the Social Welfare Program at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research interests include disparities in economic recovery along racial and gender lines, particularly among people of color and the labor diaspora.
