Anna Wasim is a social work researcher and doctoral student at the University of Denver specializing in child welfare policy, family services, and applied program evaluation. Over her 15-year career, she has led and contributed to large-scale, multisector research and evaluation projects that integrate rigorous methods with practice innovation across legal, social service, and community settings.
As Senior Research Program Coordinator at the Texas Institute for Child & Family Wellbeing at the University of Texas at Austin, Anna was the evaluator of a federally funded permanency practice model in collaboration with state agencies and community partners. She has managed mixed-methods studies examining child welfare outcomes, co-developed validated instruments to assess professional practices, and overseen all phases of research administration. She previously directed evaluations of prosecutorial strategies to improve evidence collection in domestic violence cases, coordinated assessments of family violence and sexual assault services statewide, and provided direct services as a Senior Victim Counselor in the legal system. Her experience spans program development, policy analysis, quantitative survey research, and qualitative inquiry.
Anna has co-authored peer-reviewed publications and technical reports on child welfare practice, professional training, and evidence-informed interventions. Her work is distinguished by strong project leadership, expertise in applied research translation, and a commitment to improving systems supporting children, caregivers, and survivors. She brings a comprehensive understanding of social work practice and research, combining scientific rigor with practical knowledge to inform policy and strengthen service delivery across systems.
