Dr. Carrie Snyder (she/her) joined Temple in May 2022 as the Director of Disability Resources and Services. Previously, Dr. Snyder worked at the University at Albany in New York for eight years, where she served first as the Assistant Director, then the Assistant Dean, of Disability Access and Inclusion Student Services. She is also board member for Delta Alpha Pi, the honor society for disabled students. Identifying as a disabled woman, Dr. Snyder can relate to students seeking accommodations in higher education, as she utilized the services of disability offices throughout her academic career.
Prior to her career in higher education, Dr. Snyder served as a medical social worker in an acute rehab facility and as a program coordinator for the New York State Money Follows the Person program through a grant awarded to a local Center for Independent Living. Prior to a career in social work, she began her work in disability as a certified sign language interpreter.
Dr. Snyder earned her Doctorate in Social Work from Millersville University in Pennsylvania in May of 2022. She channeled her passion for disability and DEI into her research, focusing on the inclusion of disability in diversity training for social work educators. She is also a two-time alumna of the University at Albany, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Welfare with a concentration in Gerontology.
