Dr. Micki Washburn is an Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work. Dr. Washburn frequently integrates aspects of technology into her scholarship and has expertise in behavioral health intervention development. Her current research focuses on the creation and implementation of innovative culturally grounded interventions for individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. For over 15 years, Dr. Washburn has worked with people experiencing co-occurring mental health, substance abuse and physical health concerns. She holds practice licenses in both Social Work and Professional Counseling. She is also a State of Texas board approved LPC Supervisor. Dr. Washburn has published multiple peer-reviewed articles related to innovative training approaches for social work students and has successfully facilitated four global learning trips for Masters students to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Taiwan and India.
