Shamila Sivakumaran is a dedicated social work professional, researcher, and educator with extensive experience in both practice and academia. She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Madras Christian College in India and a Bachelor of Arts in drama, theatre, and psychology from the University of Jaffna in Sri Lanka. Since 2006, Sivakumaran has held various field and management positions in governmental and non-governmental organizations. She also was a lecturer and field supervisor at the School of Social Work in Sri Lanka. Her research interests encompass social work education, fieldwork education, mental health and psychosocial well-being, holistic community development, and war-affected communities. Currently, Sivakumaran is a PhD candidate at the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research focuses on the landscape of global social work education in the United States, contributing to the broader understanding of international perspectives in social work pedagogy and practice.
