Dr. Chengshi Shiu is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at National Taiwan University, where their research is transforming the field by advancing inclusive and data-driven approaches to behavioral health. They hold a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration, as well as a Master of Social Work from the University of Washington and a Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Health Service Research from the University of Chicago. As an accredited Graduate Statistician (GStat) by the American Statistical Association, they bring extensive expertise in modeling behavioral health data to address pressing social challenges. Dr. Shiu’s work focuses on identifying psychosocial factors that shape health behaviors and mental well-being among individuals with chronic conditions and disabilities. Their research has contributed to the development of culturally tailored behavioral interventions, including efforts to enhance healthcare engagement among HIV+ Chinese individuals. Recently, they received a prestigious Young Investigator Award from the Tourette Association of America to examine the long-term impact of stigma on mental health among adults with tics.
