Dr. Michelle Chambers-Rollins is the founder of Therapeutic Family Solutions (TFS), an outpatient mental health practice committed to culturally responsive, compassionate care. She also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Social Work and has over 15 years of experience in social work.
Dr. Chambers-Rollins earned her BSW and MSW from UNC-Chapel Hill and a PhD from the Joint Social Work Program at North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro. Her 2023 dissertation, The Hope Well, examined the treatment experiences of African American women with substance misuse issues, emphasizing the role of culturally competent care and emotional safety in healing.
Dr. Chambers-Rollins began her career in child welfare, advocating for families facing abuse, neglect, and systemic barriers. The bulk of her career, however, has been in clinical practice, where she serves as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). She specializes in trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use, with a focus on African American women, using a holistic, culturally affirming approach grounded in evidence-based care.
Beyond therapy, she provides workshops on leadership and emotional wellness. From the classroom to the podium, Dr. Chambers-Rollins is passionate about transforming systems, training future clinicians, and empowering communities to heal with dignity.
She received the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award from UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work. Through her research, teaching, and clinical work, she continues to challenge stigma and advocate for the mental health needs of historically oppressed communities.
