Professor
Wayne State University
I am a Professor of Social Work at Wayne State University. I am a community engaged scholar who investigates policies and programs for vulnerable populations in the criminal/legal system. I have published 46 peer-reviewed articles, and have established relationships with criminal/legal and behavioral health administrators in 26 Michigan counties. Projects within these counties occur at multiple points in the criminal/legal system, with federal and county law enforcement, in jails and mental health courts, and with probation and parole after incarceration. Recent projects assess systems and interventions to divert individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders away from the criminal/legal system, towards behavioral health treatment.
