LaChaune DuHart served in the United States Army for almost a decade. She served as an Animal Care NCO, specializing in the care and management of military working dogs and privately owned animals, focusing on their health and well-being. As a Military Victim Advocate, she gave holistic assistance to service members affected by sexual assault or trauma by providing them with information, resources, and guidance throughout the recovery process. Before she was medically retired, she served on the Joint Base Hawaii Culinary Team and the Phillip A. Connelly program. LaChaune has worked in social work areas of respite, child welfare, military-affiliated and veterans' transition, and academia. She has worked as a VA School Certifying Official, Military Family Coach, Transition and Support Coordinator, Assistant Veteran Recruitment & Outreach Director, and Director of UNCO Veterans Services. Currently serving as Director of Veterans Affairs and Military Education for both San Diego Miramar College and Marine Corp Air Station (MCAS Miramar), and works with CSU Graduate School of Social Work as a Adjunct Instructor. LaChaune's current research pursuits related to Veterans specific to social intergration, healthy aging, the "Military-to-Academia" pipeline, peer mentoring, and over all student mental health in higher education.
