Professor Mason specializes in research-based practice in mental health, school-based bullying, and research and practice methods. She has served in many roles at Yeshiva University's School of Social work and is now devoting her full time to teaching at the school. Her publications include multiple peer reviewed journal articles, book chapters and books. Book titles include, Handbook for Social Work Writing, with Wendy Zeitlin, (Routledge, 2024), School Linked Services, with Laura Bronstein, (Columbia, 2016), Community Health Care in Cuba, with David Strug and Joan Beder. (Lyceum, 2009, now Oxford), and Diagnosis Schizophrenia, with Rachel Miller (Columbia, 2011). Additionally, her chapter on Group Work with First Episode Schizophrenia, with Rachel Miller, appeared in Knight and Grief's Contemporary Group Work Practice (Oxford, 2024). Dr. Mason has contributed to numerous research grants and is currently working with the New Yor State Office of Mental Health Project on Evidence Mental Health Practice. She has served on a number of Counsel on Social Work committees including the Commission on Education Policy and the Council on Practice Methods and Specializations. She is a Board member on the New York State Association for Social Work Education. Dr. Mason holds an MSSW degree from the Columbia School of Social Work, a PhD in sociology from Columbia University, and a master's degree in health care administration from New York University. She is currently a member of the New York Academy of Medicine in the Social Work Section.
