Dr. Anna Stewart EdD, LISW-S is an assistant professor of social work at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She served as the assistant director of field education at The Ohio State University from 2017 to August 2025. She received her BSSW, MSW, and EdD degrees from The Ohio State University. Dr. Stewart began her career in community mental health working with children and adults, focusing on clients with complex trauma. Before transitioning into her role as a field education coordinator at The Ohio State University in 2014, Dr. Stewart worked at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a pediatric medical social worker in neonatal Intensive care and primary care settings. Dr. Stewart has interests in supporting social work practice in higher education and addressing race-based trauma for students, faculty, and staff at predominantly white institutions. Dr. Stewart is a member of the editorial review board for the Journal of Trauma Studies in Education and sits on the board for a local non-profit organization. A consistent thread through her professional and educational pursuits is a focus on addressing and increasing equity and access to supportive services and increasing trauma informed practices in higher education specifically for students with minoritized identities.
