Fr. Pious Malliar Bellian is a Visiting Instructor at the National Catholic School of Social Services, Catholic University of America. His research interests include spirituality, spiritual healing, and holistic wellness. He is a Ph.D. Candidate at Indiana University School of Social Work, Indianapolis. He holds a master’s degree in social work from IGNOU (India) and a Bachelor of Theology and Philosophy from St. Peter's Pontifical Institute. He is also an ordained minister in the Roman Catholic Church of the Diocese of Quilon, India. He offers a unique position as a Catholic priest and a social work instructor with his multicultural lived experiences in India, Canada, and the USA, which adds value to the insightful learning process of the scholarly world. For his dissertation, he is developing and validating a new scale of spiritual healing in a sample of people who have undergone traumatic life events. His professional background is in Macro Social Work, and he worked previously with various marginalized groups, including fisherfolk, orphaned children, victims of domestic violence, paraplegics, and the bedridden and terminally ill.
