Lisa Werkmeister Rozas is a first generation Peruvian-American, Professor and Director of the Puerto Rican/Latino Studies Project at the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. Her research and teaching interests focus on the examination of coloniality, White Supremacy, implicit bias and their effects on intersectional identities and the importance critical consciousness has on advocacy and allyship. She centers indigenous knowledge within higher education, the importance of a dialogic practice in teaching and the healing of the Pachamama. She is currently conducting research with an NGO in Peru to provide community-led training for organizations that foster homeless children. She co-authored the 3rd edition of Racism in the United States: Implications for the Helping Professions (2022).
