Kyle Matera earned his B.A. in Psychology from Florida Gulf Coast University and his MSW from Florida Atlantic University. He has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2016 and a Qualified Supervisor for licensure since 2018. Kyle worked in a Crisis Stabilization Unit in a Community Mental Health Center during his graduate studies. This experience fueled his passion for treating individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and continues to influence his treatment and teaching styles.
When not teaching at FAU, he supervises Undergraduate and Graduate Social Work students in a mental health crisis stabilization unit. Additionally, he enjoys working as a supervisor for post-graduate Registered Interns. When not working and as a self-care practice, Kyle is an avid birder and nature photographer. He is a guide for the local Audubon Society and has begun leading nature walks through the university.
Kyle serves as a faculty advisor to the FAU Students of Social Work organization and coordinates and chaperones the trip to NASW's annual LED trip.
