Dr. La’Toya Nicole Edwards, LCSW, BCD is a licensed clinical social worker, board-certified diplomate, professor, and holistic healer specializing in Afrocentric mental health, trauma recovery, and integrative healing modalities. As the founder of Thriving Well Holistic Wellness Solutions, she bridges traditional clinical approaches with somatic healing, energy work, and decolonial therapeutic practices.
Dr. Edwards is a recognized leader in disability justice, Black mental health, and culturally responsive trauma care, utilizing EMDR, Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Reiki, yoga, and tarot psychotherapy to support marginalized communities. She is passionate about challenging Eurocentric models in social work education and advocating for Afrocentric and Indigenous healing frameworks that honor the mind-body-spirit connection.
As a professor, consultant, and speaker, Dr. Edwards educates clinicians on decolonizing therapy, integrating spiritual and land-based healing into social work, and addressing systemic barriers to wellness. She has presented at national and international conferences on disability justice, environmental racism, and trauma-informed holistic care for BIPOC communities.
Dr. Edwards’ work is deeply rooted in Ecowomanism, an Afrocentric approach to environmental justice and healing, which she integrates into her social work practice. Through her teaching, writing, and clinical work, she remains committed to helping individuals and communities move from surviving to thriving by reclaiming ancestral wisdom, holistic healing, and disability-affirming practices.
